Top PC Games from 2007

This year was a banner year in terms of quality PC games in particular for first person shooters. BioShock, Gears of War, The Orange Box and Call of Duty 4 are all excellent first person shooters that can aruably be consider the action game of the year. However I've given the top spot to Crysis, the intense sci fi shooter from Crytek that looks and plays terrific.

1. CrysisElectronic Arts

Crysis has some hefty system requirements but this is what PC gaming is all about. The engaging game play, open ended levels along with spectactular graphics make this first person shooter the best game in a year with a lot of great titles. Set in 2019, Crysis puts players in the role of Jack Dunn, a Delta Force agent, as he trys to save the planet, battling aliens with all types of state of the art weapons and equipment. Cryis contains a detailed single player campaign and multiplayer mode which supports up to 32 players.

2. BioShock2K Games

BioShock is a superb game on all levels. The game play and features are fresh and exciting while the game's environments and graphics are a visual delight to the eyes. However it's the compelling storyline that will captivate, pull you in, and leave you wishing for more when it's all over.

3. real time strategy) set in 1989 just before the fall of the Soviet Union. However in World in Conflict, the Soviet Union does not fall and the world spirals into conflict. The game contains three game modesl; a single player campaign, skirmish mode and multiplayer mode. Players can choose from one of two factions in the single player campaign (USA or Nato), while multiplayer allows for play as USA, NATO or the Soviet Union.

4. Gears of WarMicrosoft

The smash Xbox360 hit, Gears of War is making it's way to the PC as a Games for Window title. Gears of War is a third person shooter as elite forces battle to save the inhabitants of the planet Sera. The Windows version of Gears of War will contain advanced DirectX 10 graphics as well as addition content not found in the console version with five new single player campaign chapters.

5. The WitcherAtari

The Witcher is a computer role playing game based on the series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. In the game players take on the role of a monster hunter know as a witcher. The game can be played in a traditional top down view that many computer RPGs have nad was built using BioWare's Aurora Engine game engine which was used in the original Neverwinter Nights.

6. The Orange BoxElectronic Arts

Released nearly two years ago Half Life 2 is still alive and kicking. The Orange Box is the ultimate Half Life 2 bundle. Five(5) games in one box the original Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal, Half Life 2: Episode One and the newest expansion Half Life 2: Episode Two. Half Life 2: Episode Two contains 7 more chapters following the story of our crobar wielding hero Gordon Freeman and his journey to the White Forest.

7. Call of Duty 4: Modern WarfareActivision

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare moved the Call of Duty franchise away from World War II and into a modern battlefield. This first person shooter focuses on modern infantry warfare set mainly in the Middle East. The single player campaign puts players in the role of US and British soldiers. The multiplayer mode will include a somewhat customizable class based system of game play simliar to those found in many multiplayer first person shooters.

8. Medieval II Total War KingdomsSEGA

Four new campaings in this expansion pack to Medieval 2 Total War, one of the best strategy PC games. Kingdoms also includes new factions and units to go along with the Americas, Britannia, Crusades, and Teutonic campaigns.

9. Enemy Territory Quake WarsActivision

The battle for Earth between Humans and the alien Strogg continues in Enemy Territory Quake Wars, a multiplayer first person shooter set in popular Quake universe of a Planet Earth under attack. Featuring a class based system Quake Wars offers a fun and balanced multiplayer expereince with individual and team based objectives, a wide variety of weapons and land, sea and air vehicles.

10. Unreal Tournament 3Midway Games

Actually the fourth installment in the popular Sci Fi action shooter series from Midway Games, Unreal Tournament 3 continues the online battle with game modes such as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Duel, Warfare, and Vehicle Capture the Flag. In addition the game also includes a single player campaign.
