Skating Instruction for Skaters and Instructors in the UK
Skatefresh UK provides a variety of skating classes for children and adults. Services include group classes, private lessons, skating parties and organized events. Skatefresh also arranges weekend trips for fun or training to European cities.
Learn basics, fitness or even street skating in more formal group training for all levels beginner, improver, intermediate and advanced. Skatefresh UK now has training locations in London and Brighton. It is hard to miss the Skatefresh team, because they are the ones in pink.
Skatefresh was founded in 1999 when Asha Kirkby love of roller sports and teaching motivated her to start London longest running skate school. Asha background as an artistic figure skater is responsible for Skatefresh unique perspective on solid basic skills. This expertise is now the benchmark of quality and has developed many new skaters from age 4 to 83 to populate Hyde Park.
Asha was the first qualified ICP Level 3 instructor in the UK and appeared in the BBC series Skate Nation as a judge and coach in 2009. She is featured in articles about skating for fitness skating and encouraging inline skating as green transportation.
Training and Certification Services
In addition to teaching and promoting roller sports since 1999, Asha is the UK National Director for the Inline Certification Program (ICP). She has trained and certified most of the inline skating instructors in the UK since 2003 including the ones who teach at Skatefresh today. They are all ICP qualified and have received additional training in the Skatefresh apprentice program.
In addition to developing UK instructors, Asha spends time training and certifying new and existing instructors in other countries to help grow roller sports.
You do not need to live in the UK to learn to skate from Skatefresh. Asha Kirkby has condensed years of skating and teaching experience into video format for iPhone or Android phone. Each app includes a series of professionally filmed video lessons, demonstrations with step by step instructions and graphics to simplify your learning experience. Common problems for each skill are identified and fixed. The inline apps also include extra notes and practice summaries.
Most skills in the two Roller Derby/Quads apps are in the WFTDA revised minimum requirements list. They are aimed at roller derby players wanting to improve and practice alone but also for derby coaches, providing valuable technical information, drills and exercise progressions for training fresh meat and league players.
